I remember Hualien as the gateway to the Taroko Gorge. So sad. Saw a picture of a multistory building aparently standing on one corner.

The earthquake hit two days after I had left Taiwan to fly back to Singapore. I was really shocked to hear of it on the news. I e-mailed a friend there, whom I had just seen a few days prior, but all was fine in Taipei, where she lives, although she mentioned that they felt the quake in Taipei.

Happy Travels!
