Candace, I know this is off topic but I have a question. I remember you told me you have gone to Lisbon. Do you remember the names of restaurants that you ate at that you really liked? We are looking for suggestions for Portuguese restaurants. Doesn't have to be fancy. Thank you!

Karen, we rented an apartment in the Bairro Alto, and cooked most of our dinners there. We did dine in a restaurant one night but it wasn't memorable, so I can't really give you any recommendations.
We thought Lisbon was fun and interesting. I think you will enjoy your visit there.

Candace, I was just browsing thru the Sicily threads and saw that you stayed in Scopello at Villa Azziza. We too have stayed there on 2 occasions (the owners are very good friends of ours). In fact, one year, we helped them harvest their olives for oil and went to a nearby town to the olive press "factory." fascinating watching the process. Lovely place with amazing views of the ocean. So glad you enjoyed your trip to this tiny little haven.

Our stay at Villa Azziza was one of the high points of our trip to Sicily. The amazing view, the good location, plus the friendly hosts, made it a special place to spend five days.

Thank you, Candace. Your hard work and time spent recording all is much appreciated. I enjoyed and learned from the report, and love your descryiption of special moments with people, whether with the man on the Circumvesuviana who warned you, or the other visitors you met. "It is amazing how quickly a bond can be formed with complete strangers when you are traveling. " So true!!!! I will miss Sicily this time, but will use your advice in general for Italy, and specifically for Naples, Atrani, and Ravello. I'll think of you while chowing down on Sorbillo's (whichever one!) pizza , and taking the red bus up to Ravello from Amalfi.
