Sorry Fodor's!
This new forum is doing my head in! It's so complicated and my eyes have to look everywhere. Please change it back to the old one. Anyone else out there feel the same? It's an effort to use it now.

You can go to settings and turn notifications off. Instal an adblocker so you don't get the ads. It does mean thee is a lot of white space between answers though.
They will not go back to the old format as that was getting to be unworkable. Just keep persevering, it may grow on you.

Ain't going to happen.
The 'Sandbox' site was set up weeks ago so we could see how things would work. If you didn't try that out you have some catching up to do. You can read the FAQ's and set your profile settings as you want them (avoiding e-mail notifications, PM's whatever). Play in the 'Test Area' to see how things work. Look at the Technical Help forum . . . and give it a chance. Most are getting used to it and a few things are still in development (like the profile pages).

I spent about an hour trying to post a reply last night, but kept getting a "data error" message. I signed off and signed on again and my post had appeared three times (original and two duplicates). Then I spent another half hour trying to delete the duplicates, encountering more "data error" messages. This site still needs a lot of work.
Quite honestly, this new site is not user friendly. I never had to read a "Forum Quick Start Guide and FAQ" to use the old forum, or, for that matter, to use TA.
I do feel a sense of loyalty to the site as I've used it since 2007. Other users have helped me plan wonderful trips and it's been gratifying to be able offer travel advice as well, but if the forum had been this difficult to use when I had first joined, I probably would not have used it again.
