Perks for owning shares to cruise lines

Owning shares to the cruise lines gives you the satisfaction that you can tell the staff that you own part of the company that they work for. But seriously, owning shares has it's perks, mostly in the form of OBC. Both RCL and CCL have similar programs (see links below).

Would the $100 OBC for a 7 day cruise and $250 on a 14 day cruise give you enough reasons (or financial return) for owning the shares?

RCL is around $85 a share today and was at $81 2 years ago.
CCL is around $53 today and was at $35 2 years ago.

I have met fellow passengers that they swear by it and think it is the best deal going, especially if you cruise multiple times every year.

What do you think?

CCL is (very) slowly rising. It's not the best stock I have ever owned, but I am still money ahead. But then, we only cruise Princess every year or so.

If you qualify, don't forget the OBC for veterans.

RCL requires a minimum of 100 shares of stock to receive the benefit. If you don't already own them, it's not worth it to spend $9000 for a $250 price reduction.

RCL will not let you combine different discounts. If you get a loyalty discount or a special sale discount, you can not use your share owner discount. After we made Diamond, we sold our shares, not worth keeping them.

Princess however still gives us OBC for being a share holder of CCL.
