Centre Island or Ward's Island and what to do?
We will be visiting Toronto for the first time next week, and are definitely wanting to see one of the Toronto Islands. Two islands seem to get the most traffic; Centre and Ward's but which one is better. We thought about maybe kayaking, riding bikes, see the toronto skyline, etc. Which island is best for those things? Also, is there anything else that is a must do on the islands? Lastly, I haven't really found many places for lunch on the islands, what do you recommend for that?
Thanks

The best part of the trip to the Toronto Islands is the ferry ride that gives you an excellent view of the skyline from the water... Since Centre Island and Wards island are really connected you could visit both... I would take the ferry to Centre Island dock and rent a bike and explore from pier to beach and also wander thru the small amusement park... You can then bike over to the cottage community known as Ward's for some additional exploration... The Island Cafe and the Rectory were choices when we went a few years ago... There are also food choices on the much more commercial and crowded Centre Island... The distance is about 3km between the two...
We always chose to stop at the Farmers market for cheese, meat and bread before boarding the ferry for our island picnic and brought some wine from the Niagara Region wineries... Have fun
