No more free wine with United across the Pacific
I just flew the 16 1/2 hour flight from Newark to Hong Kong. My upgrade didn't go through, so I was in Economy Plus. I ordered a red wine to drink and was told on January 1, United began charging for beer and wine on this flight across the Pacific.
It was a very smooth flight and the fasten seatbelt sign was on for the first two hours and the last two hours.
No hot towels, toothbrush or socks on this flight. The ice cream in the middle of the flight was a nice touch. The in-flight entertainment system worked well on the 777-200.
The flight left early from Newark and arrived late in Hong Kong. The plane flew over Canada and not Greenland like flight tracker had shown the previous days. The speed of the plane stayed around 500 miles per hour.
