I'm helping a friend plan a trip to Greece. She posted a question yesterday on Tripadvisor and has no answers. I'm thinking Fodors might be a better resource for her. Here's her question:

" I am taking a hiking trip in the Cyclades (Tinos, Naxos and Santorini) next September and will stay in Greece for a week afterward. In one week can I realistically visit Crete and the Peloponese, or should I stick to one area? Also, would you choose Rhodes over Crete? Where in the Peloponese should I not miss? Thank you."

I just checked Trip Advisor, and so far she has had seven replies counting her own, in which she wrote "Thank you so much! Your helpful information will keep me busy for quite a while. I think I will stick to the Peloponnese."

Peloponnese and Crete are both big places with a lot of places to visit. I think that you’d better chose one of them and explore it all. If I were you, I would go to Crete. There are plenty of beaches and great natural sceneries as well as a lot of interesting cultural things. Food is excellent and people are hostile and cheerful. Probably a visit to Peloponnese has the same characteristics but you can come back in the future. I am sure that you will never get bored in Crete and you will wish to have had even more time to stay there!

Sharlotkevin, your description of the food on Crete sounds appealing, but your description of the natives would give me pause.
