Movie to be shot in Botswana
I just read that the book, The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency is going to be turned into a movie and filming will take place in Botswana. It will be shot in Gaborone, the Okavango Delta and the Kalahari Desert. If we think the prices are getting high to stay in Botswana now, imagine what the prices will be like once this movie is released! I think if I want a return trip to Botswana I better do it soon!

The #1 Ladies Detective Agency has long seemed to me perfect for a BBC/PBS Mystery! series.
And I can no more picture Angelina Jolie playing Precious than I can picture A.J. playing Jane Marple.
(Come to think of it, Precious is sort of a Botswanese Marple.)

Like Botswana doesn't already have enough hype
UNITY)...remember that song from the early 90's? Queen Latifah, yes!!!
Btw, Angelina was here in India to make the Daniel Pearl movie and the whole thing was a MESS!!! Can you imagine these people trying to stomp their authority in the delta???
Cheers,
Hari

Here's another vote for Queen Latifah for Precious. She has the sweetness and also sometimes the little edge that Precious displays, the smarts, and also the traditional build. Have to admit that I did think of Oprah who can just about turn herself into anyone. I truly think she would be best, but, oh, well.
Matnikstym (hey, what do we call you--Mat or Al or what?) I agree that Morgan Freeman would be perfect for Mr. JLB Matekoni as per temperment. Such a gentle soul. A little bit too old, though, I think for the part. Is there anybody else out there who "fits"?
The next consideration is who will be cast as Mma Makutsi? I have to admit that I have her pictured physically a little differently than portrayed in the series--not coarse looking with bad skin, but with a good body, regular features and can you believe this? with redish hair, not quite shoulder length and curled up on the ends, lighter complexioned with black glasses frames. I know these glasses are described as big and round and thick, but....I think that she should be cast as the attractive person she is behind those glasses.
As for Charlie and the other apprentice and Mms P (what is her name? the orphanage director?) What fun to be a casting director. And how hard....
At any rate, I am looking forward to the movie...or the tv series, or whatever. I do hope it's a movie, though.

Yipes, last time Angie was in Swakopmund to make a movie, she returned to the area to have a world famous childbirth. Like Hari says about India, what a MESS.
Perhaps Botswana would afterwards become the site for the next "wedding of the century", maybe something mokoro style in the delta? My money would be on the hippos and crocs giving the paparazzi a good run for the money!!
How about Chandra Wilson from ER as Mma Ramotswe? With QL as the ever entertaining Mma Makutsi? Now, Queen Latifah could pull off wearing those blue shoes of happiness!
So much to think about, better go brew some Rooibos tea...

Can't remember what the movie is called....the Daniel Pearl, one? and is it out yet?
Apparently, Angelina and her crew didnt have enough guts to film the entire movie next door at our neighbors?
