Luang Prabang/Caves
(Sorry if you read this message twcie, I tried posting it but forgot to pick a category so not sure where it ended up.....)
Just wondering if there are places around Luang Prabang or throught Laos (apart from Pak Ou caves and the caves at Vang Vieng) where caves can be explored.
Also what day trips or overnight trips would people recommend from Luang Prabang? (Apart from Pak Ou, Kuang Si, Tad Sae)
Thanks!

The Pak Ou caves are not caves to be explored, but are a traditional Buddhist pilgrimage site.
There are Hmong villages in the area that you can visit. You can also take a couple of days to go to the Plain of Jars.
I'd recommend that you spend plenty of time IN Luang Prabang. There is much to explore and experience in town.

From Luang Prabang you can get up to Nong Khiaw in about 4 hours. A further hour up the Nam Ou River will get you to Muang Ngoi Nuea which is only accessible by water. It's a pleasant place to stay, pretty rustic (you only have electricity for a few hours in the evening) You also have the option of light trekking in the area.
