For those interested in Paris and cooking...
Just thought some of you stateside might be interested... Tonight at 9 p.m. EST on the Food Network is "Barefoot in Paris," a cooking special with Ina Garten (aka the Barefoot Contessa) in Paris talking about her favorite French recipes. Yum!

Oh boy, you are smitten
Every time we come back from Paris, I try to cook French, I watch French movies and do my best to prolong all those good feelings from being there ...
Thanks for the tip ~

Meredith, thank you so much for reminding me about Barefoot in Paris. She also has a new book out called, guess what?? "Barefoot in Paris." I loved your trip report and Happy Anniversary.

Sorry I missed it and hope it repeats some time soon. I have fancied myself a gourmet cook for a few years now, having invented a few recipes that my friends go crazy for. But for real French cooking, the best I can do is the following:
1. Use lots of butter and melt it.
2. Add some flour.
3. Add some wine. Drink some, too.
4. Stir it all together and then add whatever real food you want.
5. Simmer for hours.
6. Eat and enjoy.
But somehow the real French doesn't come through. What am I doing wrong?

I love Jaque...I almost missed the Contessa last night. I forgot she was on so saw about the last 45 minutes of it. I love her, she's a great cook, a sweet lady, her husband is so cute and they are so cute together..and I love it that she does things that anybody can do. I'm going to watch for a repeat so hope I can catch the full program. They do usually repeat programs on the Food Network.

I saw a bit of it...made me sort of melancholy... she had bought some cheese and ham, wine and tomatoes and off she goes...
He's walking to the spot on the Pont des Arts...with a baguette. They are going to sit on the wall and picknick!
Sigh...
