Train Help Florence to Venice and Back

Hi all I’m a newbie I’m trying to book a train From Florence to Venice 2/28/18 and return Venice to Florence 3/1/18. I’m on Trenitalia website. Can anyone confirm my booking is correct for me before I purchase? I’m doing second class economy unless you all suggest something else. Leaving Florence 10:15am to Venice looks like train #8416 next day leave Venice to Florence time 14:35 train #9437 it’s for 2 adults and price is $79 euro. It’s letting me choose a seat is that correct? Again THANK YOU for helping me. I am so clueless with all this and everyone has been amazing!

$ - you mean euros? You are trying www.trenitalia.com right? Also try www,trenoitalia.com - competing train system using same tracks and stations and often cheaper -just as fast or about. Check www.seat61.com for didactic instructions on booking Italian trains. For general stuff on trains also www.budgeteuropetravel.com and www.ricksteves.com.

I'll let folks more familiar with actual booking come to your help but just wanted to make sure you not dealing with a U.S. middleman who may mark prices up - fares on Italian sites should be in euros.

What you have is correct, Summer. I put your dates into the Italo site (which is what I think PalenQ meant to say) and it froze up on me. I doubt it would be any cheaper than 20 E per person each way anyway, which is about what you're seeing on Trenitalia. Which is a great price, so go for it.

I've always chosen my seat at the time of booking. But since I travel alone, I've never had to buy 2 seats together. From the seating maps I've seen, it shouldn't be a problem.
