Help me decide between these 3 agriturismos in Southern Tuscany. .

Has anyone been to Tenuta Il Poggione?

It looks like exactly what we're looking for next July, and we don't have to stay a whole week, but I can't for the life of me find a single review anywhere. It's 7 miles south of Montalcino

Or we can stay here in Buonconvento

http://www.agriturismo.net/buonconvento-2487/

Or here in Pienza

http://www.fattoriafregoli.it/html_en/agriturismo.html

Any thoughts? We'll be visiting Montalcino, Pienza, Montepulciano, Siena and Cortona from wherever we stay. The first place is less than 2 miles from a little town with restaurants and the place in Pienza is also close to restaurants.

I don't know much about Buonconvento, so any advice would be appreciated. I'm really torn, I like the looks of Il Poggione best but am bothered by the lack of reviews.

We are going with our 2 sons who are 17 and 20.

The Pienza location is the best, but also look at Fonte Bertusi.

La Bandita looks fantastic for sure, but at almost $800 a night for two rooms in high season...I think we'll pass. That's how much we'll pay for 4 nights at those other places.

And Bob, I love Fonte Bertusi but they're hesitant to let us book the 2 bedroom apartment for less than a week, and if they do, it will be almost double the price of the other agriturismos I'm looking at.

Do you think it's really worth $400 a night? That's what they want to charge, 65 euro per night per person. Yowza.

You saw the Il Poggione blog, right?

It could be very interesting staying on a major wine property.

I just went to double check on La Bandita's prices because they seem so high for an agriturismo. I was a little off, it's actually almost $1,000 a night for the 2 rooms we would need for our family of four.

I then had to laugh that the owners brag about not nickle and diming their guests for things like coffee, cappucino and water on the website.

For $1,000 a night they better throw in a few "free" beverages!

jjk, yes, we have several bottles of Il Poggione in our cellar.

I think that's part of the attraction...that and the $200 (130 Euro) a night rate for a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, air conditioned newly renovated farmhouse with a pool on one of the best vineyards in the world.

La Bandita reminds me of this place a bit...where we would stay again (were there 5 years ago to celebrate a friends birthday) if it wasn't so remote. We only have 4 days in Tuscany but if anyone wants a GORGEOUS agriturismo at incredible prices, check it out.

Perfect with a group or if you want to just lay around and sip wine between meals.

It's just over the border of Tuscany in Grosseto, about 35 minutes from Montalcino.

Nina, I'm planning a similar trip for next year. Can you tell me what you decided and how it worked out? I'm familiar with Il Poggione, and am definitely leaning that way.

cjhermanns - This thread is 6 years old and it appears nina hasn't been active on the boards in a while (you can click on someone's screen name to see if they have been posting). You might be better off starting your own thread with a title that states what you are seeking in case nina is no longer on the boards.
