Place to store luggage at Venice SL?
Sorry, this must have been asked, but I tried several different ways in search.
We check out at 10:00 and will catch a train around 3:00 to Florence on a Tuesday in April. Is there anyplace to check luggage while we spend our last 4 hours in Venice? Thanks

yes, there is a left luggage at the airport. Depending on the location of your hotel it may be much more convenient to have them keep your bags though. Every hotel I've ever stayed at is able to store luggage.

The last I knew, lenc, when you face the Venice Santa Lucia train station the area where you can have your luggage stored in towards your right and no doubt that hasn't changed as most things in Italy don't. Have a wonderful trip!

This link to the official station site should help you out with prices.

The other option is to ask your hotel to keep your bags for a few hours. Hotels do this routinely. It depends on whether the sightseeing you want to do is closer to the train station or closer to the hotel.

The best place to store you're luggage is at the train station because you will be leaving from there to go to Florence. Carrying luggage around Venice doesn't work very well. I left a large bag at the train station last year for three days, and was charged 20e. The luggage storage is at the back of the stations to the right side of the tracks.

Just note that on busy days, the lines for the left luggage desk at Venice SL station can be LONG:

That was on a Sunday in late September last year. I stopped for only a few hours off the train between Trieste and Pisa and didn't even bother with the line - I had only about four hours so just dragged my carry-ons around with me (I had been to Venice a few times before so I knew what to expect). Plan on this kind of delay just in case, and if you are lucky there will be no delay. Just be prepared for a delay when you RETURN for the luggage before your train to Florence!
