Road trip suggestions Easter NC > Ashville, NC > Plymouth, OH
Taking a road trip with only the above destinations required. We don;t have a set time schedule, and would just like a relaxing drive with some good scenery and some nice over night stops. Any and all suggestions appreciated

Where are you starting from? I guess "eastern NC". Plymouth is 'way north in Ohio.
I guess starting in Asheville it would be most "direct" to continue across Tennessee to Knoxville and then north on I75. It's an interesting and pretty drive through the mountains there along the Pigeon River for a number of miles. Knoxville is about 3 hours from Asheville. If you wanted to take a detour into the Smokey Mountains Park and Dollywood before Knoxville, you could. Knoxville to Cincinnati is about 5 hours. From Cincy you can take the interstate (71?) to Columbus and then up to Plymouth. Somewhere north of Columbus is Berlin, an amish community of some note. |
Oh, in northern Kentucky there is Berea which is an interesting concept and town. A free college and an absolutely stunning handcraft market. There's a restaurant there that is quite famous.

And continuing north on I-75 from Berea, you could stop in Lexington to see the Horse Park and the Bluegrass area. The Pleasant Hill Shakertown Village is not far, nor is the Fort Harrod replication. You could then drive west on I-64 to Louisville where there are several museums and good restaurants, and then go north on I-65 to Indianapolis, stopping to visit there or continuing to rejoin the interstate into Ohio.

P.S. Actually, Berea is more to the south in KY, and Cumberland Falls State Park is nearby.
