Road trip from Miami to New York City

Hi everyone,
I'm about to start the last of January a pleasure road trip from Miami to New York City.
I know is about 3 days long including stops. Does anyone has suggestion about where is worth stopping and some hotels or motels where i can spend the night?
Or maybe someone know some good websites that could help me plan my trip.
Thank you

Sara

I would start out by checking weather.com - and delay starting if the weather in the more northern states is bad. That could turn a 3 day trip into a 5 day or more one.

We're getting ready for our annual drive from CT to Sanibel. Sorry to tell you that the main route, I-95, can be a pretty tedious drive, especially across North and South Carolina. Audio books and rest stops help! ;-)

There are workarounds for the tedium, but they will make the trip longer. Be ready for traffic in Virginia, especially around Richmond and as you approach Washington DC. Try to organize so you don't hit those spots at the normal rush hour times! Oh, and the same for northern NJ/NYC area.

There is always the Amtrak Auto Train from Sanford (just outside of Orlando) to Lanford, VA (just outside of DC).

you save wear and tear on your car as well the ga$ money. It's probably the cheaper option. Food (sit down dinner and breakfast) and wine is included in the fare.

Unless you are willing to take a much longer trip, either along the coast or through the mountains, the trip is not wonderful. I would suggest a day in Washington DC though if you want some interesting places to visit. If you put Washington DC into the search box at the top you will find plenty of threads on that with suggestions on places to stay there and things to do, places to eat etc.

Stop and see Pedro at South of the Border. http://www.thesouthoftheborder.com/
Watch the weather once you are in Virginia.
