road trip from connecticut to niagra falls, canada and quebec, montreal
 

Hello, Planning a road trip sometime in late May or early June from CT to Niagra Falls Canada and then on to Quebec, maybe Montreal and then back perhaps a different way. Would appreciate all suggestions as to route, places to stay, eat, how long to plan for, and what to see. Love nature, outdoors stuff but also like to eat, wine, etc. Thanks!

Big area, we can give you lists of possibilities and then you can choose those that appeal most. A few to start:
- Niagara Wine Country - Near the historic Victorian town of Niagara-on-the-lake (a short scenic drive down the Niagara Parkway from the "Falls") are a number of wineries. Many more are scattered around the Niagara Peninsula. Excellent wines, some have high end dining rooms, a few with specactular views over vineyards and the lake. Sorry - somehow submitted above while still typing.....
- Toronto has lots of Big City attractions - great museums (e.g. Royal Ontario Museum ROM), Art Galleries (e.g. AGO), Entertainment District with live theatre, clubs and dining, multicultural neighbourhoods and restaurants, etc., etc.
- About 2.5 hour north of Toronto is Algonquin Provincial Park (you mentioned liking nature and outoors) - superb huge nature preserve - forested hills, many lakes, great short and long nature trails and hikes, canoeing (rentals there), wildlife watching, etc.
- Montreal is great, atmospheric. Most visitors enjoy "Old Montreal" which is essentially adjacent (walking distance) to the downtown.

Lots of other ideas but I'll let others weight in and these at least might start more specific discussion.

You might be interested in going along the upper tier of NY by way of the Finger Lakes and wine countyr to Niagara Falls and then heading east along the US side of the St. Lawrence River to Montreal and Quebec then south on US-7 to Connecticut.
