Road Trip - CT to TN
 

Greetings! In the early stages of planning road trip for mid to late August from CT to TN. Husband, 2 yr old and I would like a day in Dollywood (2 possibly 3 days) and possibly head on to Nashville (2-3 days?). Looking for family-oriented suggestions along the way. Also, worth a few days stay in Knoxville? Or other suggeestions to see while en route to either location? Total trip duration 8 - 10 days. Any hotel/resort/restaurant recommendations welcome. Thanks!!

Hershey Park in PA could be a possibility. Or Busch Gardens near Williamsburg or Colonial Williamsburg. Your 2 year old wouldn't get anything out of Colonial Williamsburg but you could push him/her in a stroller while the adults appreciate CW. There is a water park nearby, too. Or perhaps Monticello, which again a 2 year old wouldn't appreciate but adults would. Not sure which part of VA you plan to drive through. What about Blue Ridge Parkway?

Great ideas - thanks Kwoo! Wasn't aware of the Blue Ridge Parkway but that looks like an idea. Pardon my lack of knowledge here but assuming it's a major highway?

It is a highway along the beautiful part of the mountains. It has a speed limit of 45MPH, and is lovely to do for a "stretch" for sightseeing, but not as a way to travel for a long time. It won't be crowded so traffic is not a problem.

I just double checked & the Blue Ridge Parkway runs from southern Virginia into North Carolina. It is the Skyline Drive that runs north to south in Virginia. I think you can pick it up about 70 miles from DC in Front Royal. Skyline Drive is in Shenandoah National Park. I've driven on the Skyline Drive but not Blue Ridge parkway. Both are beautiful and scenic & not meant for speed driving. One year we stayed at Big Meadows Lodge in Shenandoah National park. Very pretty, there is some easy hikes, horseback riding. You can do a google search for more info.
