Road Trip CA to OREGON
 

We will be traveling from San Diego, CA to Portland, OR to drop off our son as he starts college. Any suggestions on what’s the best, smooth route to take since we will also be renting a uhaul. Thank you in advance.

If you want the most direct, straightforward route -- I-5 all the way is the only real option. I-5 will take between 18 and 20-ish hours butts in seats plus stops, depending on traffic. So switching drivers a reasonable 2 days drive. You could sleep over somewhere between Redding and Medford

With a U-Haul and taking a dorm room full of belongings, taking a meandering, scenic multi day route wouldn't make sense.
