Planning a southern states road trip starting from Texas
 

We are planning a road trip starting from Texas and would like to tour several southern states. We are interested in cooking, food, eating, fruit stands, vegetable stands just all kinds of southern living type things to do and see. I'm trying to map it all out and need help please. Any advice or tips, suggestions would be much appreciated.

When is your trip? How long? I could work you up an itinerary with that information.

We are leaving around the 23 or 24 of July and are flexible on time. I would say 8-10 days. We are leaving from Stephenville Texas. Thank you!

One more thing I have been to Savannah and love it but would like to see different quaint Georgia towns this time :)

That is a big expanse of travel!! Stephenville...so I presume you are headed east? I can help with Texas, but not the rest. I prefer SA for fun. Dallas is shopping, FW is cowtown. H is a city. All have great museums and food...to me, SA has done a fine job around the riverwalk and makes a stay there easier than the others, which, to me...IMHO...require more traveling about in a car.

I agree, mmmooommm. If the OP visits all four of those states in 8-10 days it will be all drive-no visit.

I think a trip over into Louisiana might work. Spend a few nights in New Orleans, drive over to Breaux Bridge, down to Avery Island, and enjoy driving through the bayou. I stayed with some nice people in Thibodaux:

They are experts on the area and can make great recommendations while they feed you the best breakfast ever.
I don't know that I'd go all the way to the Atlantic coast and back.

Remember, it will be hot. HOT.

To much to do in that space of time. And I sort of assume Texas is not for "stopping", but for travel through?
I think the Louisiana suggestion is a nice tour. They could add in a little beach in southern Alabama maybe. the food in LA and say, Mobile would be outstanding.
Local farmers' markets are usually on the weekend,but you might look up the larger regional markets where the wholesalers sell, and usually have daily markets available.

Yes Texas is just to travel through. Maybe not see all those states but maybe part of Georgia, Alabama and Carolina's I'm sorry I wasn't clear. We are flexible and don't really have a definite anything I'm thinking we should move it back to around the 23 of June might not be as hot although heat really isn't an issue lol I live in Texas! I understand HOT I live in central Louisiana. If just passing through, maybe Shreveport: has casinos and boardwalk shopping, hotels & eating. Possibly lodging Natchitoches: quaint lil town with brick roads, restaurants B&B's and lil shops or Natchez Ms quaint with B&B's. For Southern La: AveryIsland(tobasco)or St Francisville: for old history B&B's, garden tours. New Orleans: city park, touring old homesteads, kayak on bayou st john, downtown food, casino, nightlife, zoo & aquarium. Closest descent beach for us: Gulf shores/orange beach alabama. Happy planning!! I just returned from the east coast and these discussions helped so much.

Head out to Little Rock and spend a night then head E to Memphis for a night. Stay in downtown near Beale Street and enjoy the music and BBQ. Head S on # 61 to Clarksdale home of the blues and spend the night in Vicksburg, MS. Visit the National Military Park. Head out to Jackson, MS down to Hattiesburg and Mobile, AL. Spend a night or two at Gulf Shores, AL on the Gulf Coast then head W to New Orleans.

Great ideas and advice. Has anyone heard of Magnolia Springs or know anything about it?
