Thanks your the advise. We love traveling. Even if we hit traffic we usually find games or something to do.

Dallas to Orlando is approximately 17 hours driving time.

We've driven through Dallas/Fort Worth a few times recently, and the traffic sucks. If you don't know EXACTLY where you're going - or which route to take - you can be in trouble. I'd consider another route, if I were you.

Let me add that I think stopping in New Orleans is a wonderful idea. It's a city like no other and I love it. On the other hand, I grew up near Dallas, so maybe I'm jaded, but I wouldn't go out of my way to stop there. To my former fellow Texans, I apologize...

THanks so much for the ideas. We had an emergency and had to do things earlier. We were there in New Orleans this passed Sunday but all the "good" restaurants were closed. We went to Mother's restaurant and the fried chicken was pretty good. We also had Jerry's jambalaya, red beans and rice and some seafood gumbo. The fried chicken was my favorite. After lunch we decided to walk to Angelo Brocato for gelato. Took the streetcar and walked about a block to the pastry shop. The Baba Rhum was delicious. Overall the trip was good I just wish more restaurants were opened and that people would stop begging for money. It's true New Orleans is a place like no other.
