Sorry but that is too broad a question. You are talking about THREE countries in 2 wks. I assume that most people who travel to Europe like sightseeing and historical landmarks.

The first suggestion I WOULD make is you should only at most try to do 2 countries in 2 weeks and even that is too much in my opinion but could be done if you choose say Germany and Austria.

But, again, these are very large countries. Do you prefer big cities or small towns? You could spend a week between Vienna/Salzburg and then another week in the area around Munich.

There are just too many possibilities with the limited information you have given us.

Thank you very much bettyk and edward2005
You are correct, it is too broad.
I appreciate your opinion,
I need to re-think a better route.

You could easily spend 2 weeks or more just in Germany. IMHO Berlin ( a large number of top class museums as well as the fascination of the east/west difference) is worth at least 5 full days and Munich (city and bavaria south of the city with castles, alps and small charming villages) is well worth another 5 full days. Then there are the Rhine and Mosel areas as well as the black forest.

IMHO Switz is really for the countryside/alps and the best choice is to use a central town (Lucerne? Interlaken?) to travel the lakes and mountains. There is a fascinating Swiss countryside historical museum in Ballenberg near Lake Brienz.

And Austria to me calls for visits to at least Vienna and Salzburg at a minimum, with day trips to major nearby sights and countryside.

So I think you really need to focus on your most important must sees, then posters here can make suggestions on how to string them together.

Zurich -> Interlaken -> Salzburg -> Munich 9:30 minutes of driving.

Or - fly into Zurich, train to Interlaken (2:17), train to Salzburg (7:33), train to Munich (1:33), fly home A total of 11:23 of train time

Does that sound horrible? Suggesting anything as logistically feasible, or not, simply on the basis of the number of countries involved is overly simplistic.

Here's what OP could get;

- 3 locations to stay in - one in each of Switzerland, Austria and Germany
- 4 or 5 days in each, and only two days of travel out of 14 if you consider taking the train to Interlaken on arrival as just an extension of the arriving flight.(it leaves from the airport).
- lots of time for day trips to the Salzkammergut, Bavarian Alps or Franconia, and Wengen, etc.

Heck, you can add Milan, or Verona, to the train trip for only about 3 more hours total travel time. 4 countries in 14 days staying in 4 different cities for for 3 - 4 days each and with only 3 travel days after arrival and none of those involving a train ride longer than 6 hours (Verona, not Milan as a stop).

I hope nobody ever forces me to do something this awful.

What kind of budget do you have? Switzerland is much more expensive than the other 2.

Do you know which airports are convenient for you to fly into / out of ? Fly into Zurich, fly out of Munich, Frankfurt, Vienna, Salzburg, Stuttgart or ? - or vice versa.

try this: Fly to Zurich. Stay in Luzern and/or Interlaken area. Go to Munich, perhaps staying someplace on the way. Then to Salzburg and the surrounding area. fly out of Munich.
