East coast road trip from Toronto with a dog. Recommendations appreciated!

I am planning to do an east coast road trip with my boyfriend and dog for 2-3 weeks in August. We are planning 2 days of travel on each end (we don’t want to do too much driving because of the dog). We are planning on camping the entire trip (we both just graduated and want to save cost where we can, plus we both love camping!)

I’m looking for any recommendations or even potential iteneraries. The main things we want to do on this trip:
  • Mostly outdoor activities (hiking, kayaking, exploring) but could do a few days walking around must see towns/cities
  • have to bring the dog everywhere so everything must be dog friendly
  • Peggy’s cove
  • Cape Breton
  • minimal driving (probably looking to stay in one area/campsite for a few days and drive around from there and then move on)
What I really need help with are campsite suggestions (also around Quebec City)! As you can probably tell I’m new to planning a big trip like this so any suggestions you have are appreciated! Thanks!

koa.com is probably your best bet for camping information, locations and reservations (for private campgrounds.)

sepaq.com or campingquebec.com for Quebec camping locations and info.

Camping is really popular in the Maritimes, each province has online info and a reservation system.

Your first logical stop, coming from Toronto would be the Long Sault area , that falls under Parks Canada jurisdiction.

More popular or scenic campgrounds have to be reserved in advance.

August is peak season.
