3 Week Road Trip: Minneapolis to Pacific Northwest

My husband and I are taking three weeks to drive out to the Pacific Northwest and are looking for itinerary ideas or can't miss destinations. Our tentative schedule:
Minneapolis to Theodore Roosevelt National Park in ND (to break up trip) 2 days
Glacier NP 3 days
Banff 3 days
Vancouver (plus Vancouver Island/Victoria, etc) 4 days
Seattle (San Juan, Mt Ranier NP, etc) 4 days
Portland? (Mt. Hood, etc) 3 days
Back home! 2 days?

My routing would include:

Mt Rushmore National Monument
Grand Teton National Park
Yellowstone National Park
Glacier National Park (Many Lakes)
Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta
Banff, Alberta
Icefields Parkway and Jasper National Park, Alberta
Vancouver, British Columbia
Seattle
Mt. Rainier
Portland
Columbia River Gorge
Return to Minneapolis via northern route

Thanks HTTY! We have already seen Grand Teton/Yellowstone/Mt Rushmore and are hoping to focus on the Pacific NW. When you say return via northern route, what do you suggest for the outbound route? Thanks!

It's 560 miles from Minneapolis to Theodore Roosevelt and then another 580 miles to Many Lakes in Glacier. You won't have much time to tour Theodore Roosevelt National Park but it's a good place to make a stop and take a quick look around.

I don't see you making it from Portland back home to Minneapolis in two days. You're looking at over 1600 miles. Just driving time alone would be 12 hours per day, which doesn't include stopping for food, gas and pit stops. For safety sake you will want at least 3 days to get home.

BTW, you will need your passports to cross over into Canada.
