Which hotel should be stay at?

My husband and I are looking at a short vacation to Cancun. I would like some imput on which hotel we should stay in. A great swimming beach is important as well as excellent food. Our choices are the Royal at Playa Del CArmen or any of the Hilton, Marriott or Ritz Carltons. I would be paying for the Royal, but the Hilton and Marriots would be on Points. Thank you in advance for your help.

I'd pick anywhere in Playa del Carmen over Cancun. You may or may not agree.

Casa Magna Marriott and JW Marriott are next door to each other. It will cost you more points to stay at the JW but it has nicer pools including an infinity pool plus a separate adult pool with swim up bar.
We stayed at the JW over the holidays (Dec2011). All the rooms have an ocean view so don't pay more to be upgraded to full ocean view unless it's very important to you.
Look at the rates at the Casa Magna as sometimes the with breakfast deals are really good and save your points for another stay.

The beach is lovely at these 2 resorts but bear in mind the ocean can be rough with strong currents, great for body surfing but not ideal for weak swimmers.
