Where to go in CR w/ baby?

I have been to CR before, I love it. I spent time in San Jose, Manuel Antonio, and Arenal.

I would like to come to CR for Thanksgiving. Maybe 5 days, with my husband and 1.5 year old.

I would want to stay in one location, preferably either a hotel or house, but must have 2 bedrooms at a minimum. And would like to be located near a beach and not too far a drive from the air port (no more then 2 hour drive).

Any suggestions?

I second Tulemar Bungalows, in particular Villa Mot Mot. We stayed there with our young son and it was great. Another option might be to fly into LIR and drive down to Playa Samara, which I believe is less than a 2 hour drive. The beach there is calm and the town is manageable with a baby- everything in walking distance. We've stayed at Vilas Kalimba which is very nice and has two bedroom villas at a very reasonable price. The have a small pool and are kid friendly and super helpful.

At Tulemar are there things to do either on the premises or in walking distances like you mentioned in samara?

Yes, you can walk to restaurants from Tulemar- it's just not a town like Samara, it's restaurants on the road near Tulemar. My only complaint about that area is that the food was very pricey, but I think that's avoidable depending on your restaurant choice. Samara has more authentic Costa Rican restaurants and better prices (although I haven't been there for a while).

We stayed at Villa Mot Mot 2 years in a row when our granddaughter visited us as a 2 and then 3 year old. Great place for kids. . .excellent wildlife, squirrel monkeys, white faced capuchins, sloth in the trees above the swimming pool. We especially loved spending the day at the private beach--it is perfect for small kids to play and for adults to relax. Those were good times, sweet memories!
