When for Argentina?

Hi all,

I'm here to pick your expert brains again! My getting to Argentina is proving to be much more difficult than I expected. I was originally going in November of last year, but had an accident and had to cancel the trip.

I had already bought my (non refundable) plane tickets, and American's rules are that I must use those $ for another ticket (to anyplace they fly, but I'm still thinking of Argentina) with travel beginning before Sept 12.

My thoughts are to arrive in BA, go to Peninsula Valdes, Ushuaia, and El Calafate, and then back to BA, with my time in BA occurring at the end of the trip. Total time in Argentina would be 2 1/2 to 3 weeks (this does not include the international travel time).

I was planning (plan #2) to travel in April, which would work for the areas I want to see. But then my employer informed me that I can't take vacation in April.

So what time period would you recommend btw May 10 (earliest start) and Sept 12 (latest start)? What should plan #3 be?

Cindy

OF COURSE, I'd suggest still coming to Argentina, but, at that time of the year, I would suggest going to BA, Iguazú and Salta, where our winter is wonderful. It would be too cold in our South.

Have a great time in our country.

I'll be in Salta in August. Do you have some favorite hotels or restaurants? What about in Cafayate?

Great, Cindy_S!

You'll be coming in our late winter/early spring.

It will be still rather cold in the South, but not as cold as in mid-winter.

It should a great time for all the other destinations.

Let the planning begin.....

LOL!!!

Cindy, have alook to the map of Argentina, there is an area, the upper left corner, is the NW of Argentina... Beautiful, SAlta, Cafayate, Purmamarca, SAlinasGrandes anf Tilcara are places you willlove to see, cheap meals and great climate all the time.
PEP, Do not take all your nightis SAlta, Cafayate is a great place to stay at least one night. KILLA is a nice charming hotel in teh town, ad you can taste wines, goat cheese and wine ice cream...
Stay also a night in Purmamamrca and do not miss SAlinas Grandes and Tilcara.
In Salta you can eat at LA LEÑITA in Alsina and Balcarse, or in EL SOLAR DEL CONVENTO on Caseros 455. In Tilcara eat at YACON, and in Purmamarca at LA POSTA... More info... just let me know...
Warm regards,
