Water/Ice in Puerto Morales Mexico

I am traveling to Puerto Morales Mexico in Oct. It is my first trip to Mexico and I am always hearing about how you should avoid the water in Mexico. It this true even when you are staying at a nice resort? We are staying at the Ocean Coral & Turquesa Resort. I'd really like to enjoy some mixed drinks while we're there, but wondering if I should avoid them because of the ice? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

Ice at resorts is fine. It is normally brought in by truck in plastic bags from a purified ice place, like you'd see at a grocery store in the US. Likely the resort will provide you with bottled drinking water in your room, that's pretty standard.

I have never been specifically to Puerto Morales, but lots of time in Vallarta and a few other spots. I do drink bottled water, not from the tap. But water and ice served in tourist bars and restaurants is OK.

Tap water is what you want to avoid. Ice should be fine. Try to spend some time in the actual town of Puerto Morales - it's one of my favorite little towns on the coast. There is a very interesting arts and crafts market on the edge of the downtown.

Spent a little bit of time in Puerto Morelos last month, although we did not stay AI, been there several times. Drink bottled water and use to brush teeth, ice is fine, we had drinks at the hotel bar and local restaurants and they all had ice from purified sources. No worries and do get into the town itself.

Yes, good advice for anywhere in Mexico. No tap water, even if it's filtered. Usually the hotel will bring a pitcher of water for the bathroom you can use for brushing your teeth, etc. Most restaurants use bottled water for their ice.
