Water Taxi to Jaco from Montezuma

I remember reading something about this, but can't seem to find it again.
Is there a water taxi from Montezuma to Jaco? And if so how long of a ride? I assume it runs during the day only?
We have friends that will be in Jaco on 2 of the nights that we will be in Montezuma. Just considering whether or not this could be an option to go over and have dinner or a drink with them.
Thanks
Donna

Hi Donna,
I took the boat taxi from Montezuma to Jaco in June 2001. You don't actually go to Jaco, but to Herradura Bay, which is a few miles north of Jaco (where the Marriott Los Suenos is located). We thoroughly enjoyed it and it shaved several hours off of our commute to Quepos. One caveat - these boats make a wet landing so be prepared. I believe the boat taxis only run in the daytime, so returning after dinner is probably may not be an option. You might want to contact one of the Montezuma hotels for details.

Donna
just came from Montezuma. There's lots of tour companies offering this service, usually leaving Montezuma at 6:00 am and returning from Jaco at 9ish. Takes about an hour.

Cocozuma Tours
[email protected]

was one such company. $30 per person, 4 person minimum, though they often have people for these trips, so if you are alone or just two, you can hook up with others for the trip. Sorry, I'm unsure of the Jaco contacts, but I'm sure Cocozuma can line you up.
Montezuma is great.

Donna, two other things:

Montezuma is small, very small. You can walk the town in about 10 minutes. You should bring a flashlight with you (there is one in the Bungalow, but we found it to be a bit weak, so we used our own). you'll also need it when you walk from town to the bungalows - nice walk along the beach, takes about 10 - 15 minutes.

The other thing is that the staff at El Sano Banano will advise you to keep on a light when you leave in the evening. All due respect, but don't do it. The bungalows have an open concept, so my advice would be to do two things before you leave for the evening; one, place your mosquito net around the bed, and two, turn off all lights. If not, you'll find a few friends upon your return. The other thing (and not to spook you), but you should shake the bed clothes before getting in. As well, if you leave your clothes on the floor, give them a shake. There can be a few crawling friends around.

Don't get me wrong, you won't be eat alive or freaked out. You''ll just want to keep the number of insects down. You are in the middle of the forest.
