WANTWD!! Privacy with my husband!
My husband and I are planning a 5 or 6 night getaway and want something kind of private. I don't care about 5 star resorts. I want a clean room or small villa or house etc. Mostly we just want to be where we can go to the beach or on a veranda or patio and be intimate if we choose. I want to be a little free and just enjoy the beach and our surrounding. Please help me find a place I can stay and have this special time. Thanks.

You might consider Isla Mujeres - about a 20 minute ferry ride off Cancun. We are going there for the first time at the beginning of June and we enjoy the kind of holiday you describe. Check out isla-mujeres.net - there are lots of very reasonably priced villas, etc., especially at this time of year.

Hi Andrea,

Are you definitely set on going to Mexico? If not, a great place to try is Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands. My husband & I went last May and had a fabulous time. It was extremely relaxing and private. We stayed at Guavaberry Spring Bay; charming little tree houses with a private deck. I found it very romantic. At night we would go out to the deck and watch the stars. There is a very nice beach (Spring Bay, I believe) within a 5 minute walk. This beach was not crowded; at most maybe 10 guests. At night, there was not a sole on the beach. If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me. Good Luck.

Would go along with Sue on Isla Mujeres
Especially if you dont want to spend an arm and a leg. We spend one month a year there and would be happy to send you our home grown brouchure on the island if you request. It is so laid back and peacefull that romance is about the only thing you can think of.
Also can recall staying in the stilt houses at the Samsara in Negril Jamaica
watching the sunset through the doors and there we were high above the maddening crowds. Enough said.
We have been a lot of places and these are our best two recommendations.
We are old farts, been around the bend, and try to make the moments count. dan and ginny

Try the Tulemar Bungalows in Costa Rica.
(Manuel Antonio area). I just returned and had what you are saying you are looking for. You will be almost off by your self in your own bungalow. We had a one bedroom bungalow and it met our every need. It has one of the few private beaches in the area. The restaurant is great for all three meals.

We went on a tour with some people who had stayed at the Parador and they seem to like the Bungalows better than the place where they stayed.
