Travel in Argentina

We just returned from two weeks in Argentina. We were in Buenas Aires and Mendoza. We had a wonderful experience. Hotels and meals were incredible bargains. People were warm and friendly. We saw a few demonstrations in BA, all small and controlled, but other than that, it was very calm. I would definitely go back again and recommend this as an optimum time to visit Argentina. It is a true bargain and the economy needs tourist dollars.

I am planning a trip with my family for one week in either Feb or April. Do you think April would be a good time? Also, how did you travel from BA to Mendoza?

Hi Sue,
February usually is too hot to visit Buenos Aires. Best time is late march or early-April (of course if you don´t have September free).
Also try to visit Mendoza in March-April. Thay have what we call the "Vendimia" (vintage). As one of the best wine region in the world, Mendoza is a great destination to visit at that time.
Several domestic airlines serve the airports of Mendoza and Buenos Aires, such as Aerolineas Argentinas, Dinar, Airg or Southern Winds.
Hope this helps.
I went to Cordoba and Buenos Aires for a month last year from July 18-Aug 15. The weather is reversed south of the equator so it was their winter. Temperatures were in the mid 70's during the day and it was nice. I was in shorts and t-shirts and the Argentines were in Wool trenchcoats chattering their teeth. It was hysterical. I have never gotten stared at so much in my life. Cordoba is the 2nd largest city with about 2 million people. I stayed at the Hotel Del Sol and it was fabulous. Reasonable and nice. It's address is 144 Balcarce. It's within walking distance from Plaza de San Martin, the museum, huge shopping malls, the university. I highly recommend it.
