Tour Guide in San Miguel de Allende?
Does anyone have a recommendation for a tour guide in San Miguel de Allende? I found Helene Kahn's web site and am thinking about two or three day trips and possibly an overnight trip.(1. San Juan del Rio, Tequisquiapan, Bernal 2.Guanajuato 3. Queretaro 4. Overnight trip to Patzcuaro and Morelia)
Can anyone comment on Helene Kahn's tour service? Is there someone else that you used and liked?
We are a family of 2 adults and 2 teens so I am looking for a private tour that we could adapt to our interests and pace.
All comments are appreciated.

Wendy, there are quite a few and the prices seem similar.
Tours Mexico Colonial [email protected]
www.transtur-imperial.com
www.airportdriversma.com
[email protected]
www.viajessanmiguel.com (not so great review of thier airport service on TA Forum)
www.angelicatours.com
www.tours-in-mexico.com
www.pmexc.com
e-mail [email protected]
All seem quite experienced and knowledgeable about the areas of interest.
Recommend Hot Mansion Iturbe and Rest Cha Cha Cha (maybe the best in Michoacan)in Patzcuaro. We liked the mask carvers in Tocauro on the SW side of the Lake.

You might also want to check the www.tripadvisor.com san miguel de allende forum: rumba1 just used Antonio for a trip to Santa Rosa and Dolores Hidalgo and was very pleased.

We used Helene Kahn and were very pleased.
She was friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely accomodating.
Also, I would take all of Mikemo's advice. He is a gem! Our trip was a huge success largely due to his advice and suggestions.
Enjoy!

Hi AdamSparks,
Helene can be reached at www.helenekahn.com Do you use google at all? I think a search under San Miguel de Allende tour guides will bring up the names and contact info you are looking for.
Mikemo is the resident expert on TripAdvisor but I believe you have to click on the SMA chat thread to get all of the up to date questions and answers.
Good luck in your planning!

On TripAdvisor on the opening page in the upper right hand corner is a box called "Browse Destinations". Click on Mexico there and you should be able to locate the SMA Forum.

sparklegem: We took the Guanajuato tour, the Queretaro tour, and the Bernal tour. Helene is good with kids and personalizes the tour to your interests (even my son's interest in chocolate!) Personally, we loved Guanajuato and could have spent much more time there. Bernal was a long drive but such an interesting topographic formation and a pretty town, like another world. I wasn't as taken with Queretaro but I am not a big church and catherdral buff so maybe that was why.

We just got back from SMA and used both Angelica and Mario of Angelica Tours. They were both really great. They gave us a real sense of the history of the area, in some nice tips of things to explore on our own. They also gave us some "insider" ideas of things to do that the locals do--that we never would have known about. I highly recommend them. We toured San Miguel and Guanajuato with some some short side trips.
