The little hotel at Peulla, near the border between Chile and Argentina. Spotless dining room, sophisticated menu, and waitresses dressed like Mary Poppins who serve in the French style, that is, using fork and spoon with one hand while balancing the tray of food with the other.

The great falls at Iguasu -- we had it almost all to ourselves from the Hotel Internacional on the Argentine side. Machu Picchu at sunrise, when the mist clears away and the sun comes out. The size of a "modest" steak in almost any Buenos Aires restaurant. The streets of Cuzco lined with Incan stonework, so tightly fitted that a razor blade cannot be slipped between them. The great fortress of Sachsayhuaman outside Cuzco.

Chachapoyas, Peru!
a place tourists have just begun to find, local people that are really great, not even one tourist shop in the whole city!
outside of town the fortress of Kuelap, a pre-Inca ruin that rivals Machu Picchu, and numerous ruins in discovery mode as I write this.
Fantastic mountain trekking.
Come visit my travel journal about Chachapoyas at
http://expphoto.com

Happy Trails,
dav
[email protected]
