We are deciding if we should stay in Alajuela (2 days) and do day trips to Volcán Poás, La Pax Waterfall, Doka estate and Sarchi or travel to Arenal and stay two days there. Either way we will nextl head to Monteverde/Santa Elena for two days then to Pacific Coast (Playa Samana). Any suggestions?

Go to Arenal. We stayed at Arenal Observatory Lodge. Would stay there again, but only if you have a car.

I would go to Arenal as well but I'm also curios how many days you have in Samara. Moving around too much for 2 night stays can take the fun away.

Arenal is a don't miss in my book, so I agree with everyone above. I'd stay there at least three nights though if you can. We usually stay four.

Thank you for all your answers. We will be staying two nights in Arenal and two in Montverde based on all the feedback. Our stay in Playa Samara will be for three or four nights.
