San Miguel De Allende B&B/Inn suggestion

I'm planning a trip to SMA for this June/July and am just learning about the city and all that it has to offer. It seems fairly uncommon for hotels to have pools here... unfortunate because ther's nothing better at the end of the day than having a nice dip in a pool... Any chance someone can recommend a small inn/B&B that has a pool?
If not, any B&B recommendations are welcome - casa calderoni appears to get great reviews... Thanks!

I haven't been to San Miguel de Allende yet, but I have been to high-altitude Mexico. I think that for what you want, you'd need a place with an indoor pool, as it just gets too cool at the end of the day for a dip in the pool to be comfortable. I haven't been there in June or July, but looking at Weather Underground, the average low at night is likely to be around 12C (55F).

We stayed at Casa Luna and Casa de Sierra Nevade. Both were very nice -- no pool though. In looking at TA to refresh my memory on the names of the places we stayed I saw Arcos Del Atascadero listed and it looked like it had a picture of a pool. There are so many places to stay in SMA, I cant imagine there aren't a few with pools.

I just stayed at a new bed and breakfast called "Antigua Capilla." It is absolutely beautiful. It has no pool, but is a wonderful hideaway, with beautiful Mexican crafts, fireplaces and incredible Mexican tile bathrooms. I have been in San Miguel twice before and this is the nicest place I have stayed. Wonderful breakfasts, a large roof top patio overlooking all of San Miguel and a very old chapel in the courtyard that the owners have restored. This is a real gem!

Casa Calderoni is wonderful. I have stayed there, my adult children have stayed there, and some friends have stayed there, all on separate occasions. We all loved it and would return. The rooms are beautiful and quiet, the breakfast is with fellow guests all at one big table, and the staff are very helpful. It is well located to walk to the markets, in one direction, and to the center of town, in the other direction.

Casa Schuck has very nice rooms but no pool. The hotels I know that have pools are Real de Minas and Posada de la Aldea but the rooms are not that nice.

Hotel Royal Minas has a pool but it is a big hotel and in my opinion does not have the charm of a BnB. Plus it is located right on Ancha de San Antonio with constant heavy trafic.

The alternative to a hotel with pool is to enjoy one of the hot thermal pools right outside of town such as Taboada or La Gruta.

I've recently stayed several days in a wonderful, small BnB called Posada Francia. Location is perfect, in a quiet street next a little park but at the same time 3 minutes from Instituto Allende. Rooms are as comfortable and well appointed as a hotel but with the hospitality and personal touch of the hostess. The continental breakfast she serves is all home made from cake to jams and is a feast.

Try going to La Gruta to swim. It is really nice. Google for photos.

San Miguel delights include the classical concerts Sat and Sun.5pm at St. Paul's Church up the street from Institute Allende. Try Provecho nearby for good tastes and a delicious brownie. CarneVino is a high end food shop; Cafe Rama around the corner Is tasty and popular. Hecho in Mexico is right there on San Antonio and has good food. Don't miss the Sat am organic food Market near the Instituto, local color and food, delicious quiche.

Mama'Mia has a good sports bar and the Peruvian and Urayguan places in town are great. Take a cab to La Fabrica for a lovely art compound and take a towel when you visit hot springs La Gruta.

Call La Casa de la Noche for a Thurs. or Sunday duplicate bridge game; ACBL and profits to local scholarship.
