Riviera Maya Weather in June

We head to the Riviera Maya on the 31st of May. I know this is the start of the rainy season so I expect short heavy showers...however the forecasts are showing rain all day every day! Are these sorts of forecasts reliable and I've just picked a dodgy two weeks to go? Does anyone know of a website where you can review the actual daily weather experienced?

Thanks in advance

...however the forecasts are showing rain all day every day!"

the forecasts doesn't say that read it again. Pay attention to the chances cited. Most days say 40% or less, rain all day every day would need to be 100% chance. Pay attention to words like scattered or isolated, they mean just that. A UV index of extreme-11 means there wont be a lot of clouds.

It says that all the time. Look at one of the web cams in Playa. It has been HOT and sunny. I spend every June and July in Playa and we have not had days of rain so I wouldn't worry about it. On my way soon myself. More worried about the heat index than the rain.

"It says that all the time" you really should read the forecast cause it rarely says that

I never look at weather forecasts before I travel. They are rarely correct. Especially for coastal Mexico.

We were there in June 3 years ago and it was HOT. When it rained, it rained hard and passed quickly except near the end of the trip when Hurricane Alex passed by and dumped rain on us for days. That's really unusual for June, though. I would plan for the heat and not overworry about the rain.

When we go every February, the weather reports say rain nearly every day. We rarely see more than a brief downpour. I don't really pay much attention to the weather reports for that area any more.

The weather report says a chance of rain everyday, that is a huge difference from saying rain everyday.

Idon't watch the weather reports and just got back last night, we had almost two hours of rain (warm rain) May 18 during Happy Hour, no big deal, we had drinks and were covered so just waited it out.

I have a condo in Playa del Carmen, as does colokid. Last year I spent 2 months, June and July, there. The year before I spent the month of June and 3 wks in August there. I am getting ready now to head down to spend 3wks in June there.

My experience is that, unless there is a tropical storm (like TS Debby last year), you will have hot and humid weather every day. You may have brief and heavy rain for an hr or so in late afternnoon, which is welcomed as it cools things off a bit. It is no big deal. You take cover, have a drink and appetizer, and pass the time. Then it stops as fast as it started, and you go about your business.

TS Debby was interesting. Lots of heavy rain for several hrs starting aroung 5 pm, and amazing nighttime lightening storm. Even that did not put a damper on life and vacations though. the next day it was sunny and business as usual.

Hi there, colo.. Email me. We can meet up last week of June in Playa if you are around then. I will be there in Playa earlier but am doing several trips to Oaxaca and other places, and will be in Playa full time last wk of June. Do u still have my mail? If not, just post here and I will provide it.

BTW, the owner of Manigua did a great job in April on a dinner for my sister and I - it was her 1st time in MX and he went out of his way to do a bang-up dinner for us.

I should still be there unless I run over to Florida for a week. Manigua still one of my favorites too. Love to catch up. Send me your email and I'll keep you posted. Have a great trip to Oaxaca.
