Puerto Vallarta questions??

Planning to visit PV in Dec. Looking for the best whale watch, zip line and off the beaten path adventures. Only recommendation thus far is Tony Sanchez and PV Adventure tours. Any advice on who to take us around would be appreciated. Also, what is the best way from airport to Villa del Palmar? Taxi? Does this need prearranged? Thanks!!

Vallarta adventures is a reputable company for that area. You can go online and view all their tours. They offer a 10% discount online, however if you are in old town my favorite ticket vender (Benny) gives a 15% discount. There are about 5 canopy/zip tours. My husband prefers the Vallarta Adventures where up in the tree tops you cross some places on platforms. Another poster had a great time going to Mismaloya and hiring "Poncho" to take them by boat to Yelapa & other beaches in that area for snorkeling, swimming and fishing. Benny (next to Burros Bar in Zona Romantica or Old Town) will drive 4 people around in his car for the day for $100.00. We went to La Penita, Guayabitos, Sayulita and San Francisco beaches. Benny sells tour tickets, No time share. Taxi's to Villa del Palmar do not have to be prearranged.

Thanks so much for your reply, blondlady. sounds like Benny is someone to hook up with. Looking for some off the beaten path adventures. Yes, I read about "Poncho" too; sounds interesting. Which of the beaches you mentioned did you like the best?

When you arrive at the airport just go to one of the two ticket booths clearly marked "taxi". Prices are set and can be paid in USD or peso. No need to prearrange.

Sorry never have done any formal tours myself in PV.

Los Veranos Canopy Tour is considered the best, no tree platforms or bridges to navigate. http://www.canopytours-vallarta.com/much.htm
Best Whale Watching is with the Whale Watching Center, http://vallartawhales.com/
Tony has his tours here, http://vallartainfo.com/tony.html

We did a canopy tour with Los Veranos. It was very fun. We also did the night tour Rythems of the Night with Vallarta Adventures. All were great. Click on my name to get our trip report.

Just back from PV and will be posting a loooong trip report within the next few days. Briefly, we took a water taxi ($20pp) to Yelapa. Fun day beach trip and we have the PRICELESS pic of my husband with an iguana on his head. Also parasailed while there. Took a boat trip to Marietta Islands with Vallarta Adventures for snorkeling and baching. Great time. Very relaxed all you can drink boat trip. The beach was kind of rough. The highlight of my adventuring was a zip line tour with the Los Veranos Canopy Co. You "zip" along lines 540 feet above the jungle. You can't do this anywhere else (well I think they are doing it now maybe in Costa Rica and Belize?), so make sure you do this. My friends will think I'm a regular sierra club type when they see these pics, but I promis you I'm not!

Hi again. I liked the Guayabitos beach for swimming. A big expansive bay with very calm waters for swimming. I particularly was interested in a fisherman cleaning his fish about the middle of the beach at a small stand and feeding the pelicans the remains. These birds were within 3 feet of me and I didn't have my camera. Benny is at the beach end of Cardenas Next to Burros Bar. Yelapa and Caletas are both beautiful beaches and a lot of fun. Sayulita is a surfer town, loads of young people, very crowded but super fun to walk around. In all these places you will run into very friendly people. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the recommendations so far posted.
