Puerto Vallarta - La Jolla de Mismaloya

I am planning a vacation for the first 2 weeks in May and am considering Puerto Vallarta as a destination. I am considering stay at La Jolla de Mismaloya. Any comments would be welcome. Comments on other hotels would also be welcome. I am going with my husband and for the first 4-5 days all we like to do is soak up the sun. Thanks,
Never stayed at the hotel in question but just to give you one point and thats location. To get to PV to dine or hit the clubs you'll have to take the bus or taxi to town. Its a 20 -30 minute ride depending on traffic. I can't comment on the hotels because rent apartments when Istay in PV. Dennis

My wife and I stayed there for a week over Thanksgiving. We enjoyed it very much. The rooms are all "embassy suites" like with separate sitting areas and all have a view of the ocean with balconies. We paid an additional $25.00 for a deluxe room with a larger sitting area and two bathrooms. The pool and beach areas are very nice also. I believe the pool is the largest one down there. It is a fair distance to town. We chose to take the local bus during the day and cabs at night. The bus trip takes 25-30 minutes and is three pesos per person. The cabs are a lot quicker, of course, and I believe we paid $9.00 per trip. I'd definitely stay there again. Feel free to e-mail me with any additional questions.

My husband and I stayed there almost a year ago and the hotel was excellent. The staff were friendly, the rooms we clean, we had a great view of the ocean and the pool area (which was wonderful).
The bus ride goes quick and the bus stop
is right across the street. Also across the street is a nice hike up to a couple
of great restuarants and a nice swimming
hole with a swinging rope. I would definitly recommend you stay there.

The beach in

I have not stayed at the hotel you mentioned but I can tell you that the Mismaloya area including the beach is very nice. If your main focus is staying on the beach relaxing, this is the place for you. However it is a good distance to town and Old town Puerto Vallarta is a very interesting and fun place. Unlike most of the made for America resorts in Mexico, Puerto has a feel all it's own. If the town itself is something you would be interested in you may want to consider staying in one of the many hotels there. Have fun!
