We stayed at Villar Del Palmar a few years back and loved it. It has a great pool and beach. The suites were wonderful. If you stay there make sure you go to the Fiesta and do the tequila walk.

We stayed at the Villa del Palmar a few years ago. We liked it. The suite was nice. The service was good. At that time, the restaurant was not the greatest. We almost always went into town for dinner. DO NOT agree to a timeshare presentation in exchange for a free gift. The sales people were very high pressured and it was difficult to escape them. There is a shopping center in easy walking distance. That made it easy to pick up some groceries to keep on hand for lunch and breakfast.

My girlfriend & I didn't stay there, but we got to swim in the pool and use the beach in return for sitting through a time-share presentation. Very nice pool -- it winds around an "island" in the center -- and also a very nice beach. While we thought it was worth sitting through the VERY high-pressure presentation -- *barely* -- in order to use their pool and beach (we were staying at a small hotel in old town Vallarta), if you're already staying there, take xxx's advice and don't agree a presentation. As soon as he realized he wasn't going to make a sale, our rep (who was a New Yorker, as it turned out) became very surly and nasty.

we have stayed at this resort. it is fun ,nice pool, nice bar at pool, nice layout. you can take bus from outside right into downtown vallarta, safe and cheap. don't do any time share stuff with anyone ,they are all over town and not pleasant. go to the marina vallarta area for dinner sometime, it is like san tropez...restaurants lining the marina , very charming..a lot of people miss it. you can also take bus there if you know a little spanish it is easy, safe.there is also a fun water park out by the marina vallarta if you like waterslides, lazy river rides etc. it is very clean, well managed ,fun for kids and grown-up kids. buen viaje.. ken
