Playa Punta Uva- questions for Earthtraveler

Earthtraveler, you mentioned that one of your favorite beach is P.Punta Uva. We like to discover new areas for our self, beach combing, swimming. The coral reef is very tempting for us and the clear water on the Caribbean. Can you give some advise , moderate hotels? We might can go there too.
Thanks for everybody who can help!

Hi Swim - My husband and I just got back from our honeymoon to CR...including the Beach Suite at Costa Rica Tree House located in Punta Uva. If you click on the below link you can read my recent trip report to that area...we loved it and can't wait to go back...

We love the Casa Viva property gardens with the three, two bedroom cabins and they also have a couple side by side efficiency units. The cabins are very reasonable, well equipped mostly, for food prep, and on the beach side with a short trail to the water and a beach walk to the Punta Uva swim area if the waves are too high out front for swimming, if your timid in stronger surf.
I don't have any experience with the hotels in the area except what I've read here or on the web. www.greencoast.com has a good variety to choose from.
Be forwarned if you are there during wet stormy weather the water turns ugly yellow from river tannins down current and with floatsam ankle cracking driftwood. It can clear overnight when the weather changes to beautiful aqua blue water. The sands are golden and some black mixed in. Have you seen my photos of Casa Viva gardens and cabin. Dave and Jeanie's place photo is the owners place onsight near the road as you drive into the property. www.rvincent3.photsite.com will give you a look at some of the botanicals, monkeys, homes and beach photos I took there. I got a kick out of the parrots chasing each other last year making quite the racket near our cabin. The howler monkeys would come when I would play my guitar and sing. The birds were a riot of color feeding in the morning after a rainy day. The three sided veranda gave me good cover in the intermitant mist as they feed on the bushes nearby. The gardener coming by with fresh fruit and coconuts for drinking was a nice touch in the mornings.

Earthtraveler, mishi, fantastic photos, thank you for all the help.
I started to organize our trip just recently, didn't check the forum for months, missed your report.
Your honeymoon was a wonderful entry to a fantastic marriage - I hope so. Congratulations!
Ours was different /40 years ago/, as students backpacking the Adriatc coast of the former Yugoslavia , we had only US $ 200 for everything, but we travelled for 4 weeks.

Thanks swim - we truly had a fantastic time...and can't wait to go back! We are trying to get our friends and family to go for our next trip...we are doing a pretty good job of convincing them...I feel like a walking advertisement for CR! Your honeymoon sounds amazing as well...I am half Croatian...my dad grew up around the border of Italy and Yugoslavia during WWII...and would love to visit that area some day! Good luck with your plans and enjoy your trip!
