There is also the Cipriani, the "Orient Express chain" Copacabana Palace Hotel restaurant. The food is terrific, but is mostly an adapted Italian menu. The wines are great. too.

There's also Antiquarius, in Leblon, with terrific Portuguese food and wines. And Claude Troisgros restaurant, with an adapted french menu, with superb food and wine, besides Le Pre Catalan, same thing.

http://ipanema.com/restrnts/french.htm

For Brazilian food, besides the mentioned Mistura Fina, and Siri Mole, try also Guimas:

http://ipanema.com/restrnts/brazil.htm#about

The best 15 or 14, since Hippopotamus closed down;

http://ipanema.com/restrnts/top.htm#about

I think you now have the best possibilities (and also the most expensive) for eating out WELL in Rio.

Regards,

S

We just returned to Europe with a great souvenir of 2 excellent restaurants in Rio: GOURMET located in Ipanema(Barrao da torres 386)and COLOMBO(art nouveau style) located in Center of Rio(via Goncalves Dias)
Cipriani(Copacabana Palace) is a great but very classic and expansive restaurant.Concerning wines,only imported wines are acceptable in Brzazil(european opinion of course).GOOD LUCK
