Need Fast Help For Hondorus Trip
Was thinking mexico now decided no. Read Hondorus is safe and affordable.
Big hurry to buy tickets due to good price.....
Any help is appreciated.
The Low Down:
I have traveled alot but not to Central America. Speak modest spanish and hope to improve. Want to take my 67 year old cousin on a trip of a lifetime, beauty, food, people. Only have one week as I, 44 work, have kids etc., seem safe for two women. so, the question, fly into? Rent a car or not and the place you would spend alot of time in. I have learned trying to see too much is a flop. I want memories not ulcers. I have driven in France and Italy so that is my only experience with cars. Did not like either and used a ton of deodorant If I go to Honduros, I will do my best to produce a story, as I too have a passion for writing. (although I am typing with the speed of light here Have to work....but like to dream of trips. Goal of Trip-See nice things; eat good; learn more spanish, perhaps stay in a B&B with no english or a class etc., I love to kayak, canoe, zip line etc., and she will try what I do Thanks for any input as I am trying to grab the airline fair for 393.00 and have minimal time to research at this point.
Thanks for your help.

My favorite place in Honduras is Copán Ruinas - lovely Maya ruins, cute colonial town, great museums, lots of hiking (and zip-lines) in the surrounding mountains, cute area villages, a butterfly place, an exotic bird park. The Ixbalanque School is fabulous and could provide homestays or there are lots of lodging options. www.ixbalanque.com If you contact the school tell them Stacey says hi!
You'd want to fly in and out of San Pedro Sula (SAP) and I wouldn't rent a car. The Hedman Alas buses are safe and comfortable; it's ~3 hours to Copán from the airport. www.hedmanalas.com
Honduras has great blue water places, too, but little Spanish is spoken.
My photos, blogs, and travelogues are below. Let me know if there's anything more I can do to help.

In Copán you'll hear very little English. Visitors come for the ruins but rarely spend the night and when they do they seem to disappear by evening. On the islands English is widely spoken so they're not a good immersion environment. Great for other things, but not Spanish practice!
Those are not months I've visited. My husband and I are both teachers and always visit CA in the summer months. I think you can take your pick as far as Copán is concerned. Happy trails!

You might enjoy a trip to Finca el Cisne. It was one of the highlights of our trip and it's easily done from Copan. We spent the night but you can also do a day tour as well.
We also enjoyed a stay at Hacienda San Lucas. Enjoy
