need advice on costa rica travel plans
Hello, I am going to costa rica the end of may. We are flying into Liberia and driving from there to monteverde. In monteverde we will spend 3 nights at El Sapo Dorado and then will spend the remaining 4 days in Tamarindo beach at Capitan Suizo. The package price for this and a 4 wheel drive vehicle is costing us $1467.00. Do you think this is a fair price? At El Capitan we have a ground level room with A/C. Do these rooms hava a view?
What would driving time from Monteverde to Liberia and Liberia to Tamarindo be?
Can you make recomendations for activities in Monteverde and Tamarindo areas. We were planning on doing the original canopy tour or the sky walk tour in monteverde and a boat ride on thru the estuary wildlife preserve in Tamarindo. Any other must see or do's. Your recomendations would be appreciated.

Actually, I think the price sounds fair for one week. I am assuming it doesn't include airfare (that would REALLY be a good deal!).
Monteverde to Liberia would be about 3 and a half to 4 hours. Liberia to Tamarindo about an hour and a half.
When in Tamarindo, we like to explore nearby areas. It would be worth your time to drive to points north through Huacas, Conchal, Brasilito, Flamingo. Flamingo and Conchal have beautiful beaches (Conchal Beach is accessed from Brasilito, about a 5 minute walk or you can drive on the beach at low tide). You can go further just a short distance and check out Potrero and Sugar Beach. This suggestions would be good if you just want to take 2-3 hours and see the area.
Also, not far from Tamarindo (about an hour) is Santa Cruz, a very typcial Costa Rican small city. About 7-8 miles out of town is Guayatil where you can see pottery being made and buy lovely pieces if you are into that at all.
You can horseback ride in Tamarindo, jet ski or kayak at Conchal, and see great sunsets at any of these places!

Thanks for your reply. Can you recommend activities in monteverde as well. Are there any hot springs in monteverde area. Are there any nice nature parks in Tamarindo area to visit. Is it reasonable to think that we can make it to liberia for a 1pm flight if driving from tamarindo.

I've not been to Monteverde. There is a lot of info online about the activities there. There are a couple of nice nature tours near Tamarindo. The drive from T. to Liberia takes about an hour. No problem for an afternoon flight. You'll want to leave about 9:00 a.m. probably.
