Moving from one continent to another with our dog
Hello,
My husband and I may be moving from the United States to another continent (tbd). We have a very sweet and well-behaved beagle that would be moving with us. She is our only "child" and is used to being with us at all times. Putting her in the cargo area of a commercial plane is not an option, and she does not fit the 15-20lb. weight limit to fly under a seat. However, we would consider flying business or first class if we could purchase a seat for her. She is a very good car traveler and we are convinced she would sit in her seat like a perfect angel. Is there any international airline that even allows something like this? I suspect not.
The only other option we can think of is to charter a jet/plane but this will be very costly for an international flight.
Anyone have any other ideas as to how we could accomplish the following?
- stay with our dog at all times of the trip
- not have her in a crate for any extended period of time
Thanks.

tbd - to be determined.
This is a possible work-related transfer/promotion.
I've thought about ship - but the only option I've seen is the Queen Mary which keeps the dogs in a kennel. I've seen pictures and they look like horrible cages.

Do you realize you may need to quarantine your animal once you get to another country, which means cages and kennels?
My sense is only a private jet is going to satisfy your needs since many commercial places are not going to satisfy your high standards.

OK, Ericka!
Let's see if this helps you.
I talked to my dog trainer, who is a member of IPATA, www.ipata.com.
His name is Manuel Luenda, his website is www.las-lunas.com.ar and his e-mail is [email protected]
His comments were the following: 1) Continental is the most pet-friendly airline; 2) your beagle most likely is small enough to travel with you; 3) Certain countries may require a quarantine period, but most will only ask for a health certificate; 4) you will find useful info on IPATA's website; 5) Contact the member of IPATA nearest your present place of residence and 6) you can e-mail Mr. Leunda, if you have any further questions. His English is nothing to write home about, but he manages. LOL!!!!
As I said, I hope this helps. Tell your husband to try to get a transfer/promotion to Buenos Aires, Argentina, the best country in the world. LOL!!!!
