Mextrotter

Hi Guys

Am Australian looking doing a tour of Mexico (Aztec/Mayan) and found what appears to be a fantastic deal with an internet travel company MEXTROTTER.COM. It seems to be have been around for a number of years dealing mainly with a European clientel. (most of trip adviser reviews are in German).

They even offer an option to travel first and pay later if you are sceptical of the company. They add 4% to the tour cost. This sounds reasonable .

Has anyone out there heard of or had dealings with this company?

Thanks in advance

You can also do it on your own. We stayed in Merida to visit Chitzen Itza and Uxmal, arranging for local tours to each site

then we flew to Oaxaca to visit Monte Alban and Mitla:

I'm sure that you can find local guides for Teotihuacan in Mexico City.

We are a group from Australia who did a Mextrotter tour. We wanted the safety and ease of a tour, but wanted to avoid having to deal with other tourists, so we did a private tour from Oaxaca to Tulum. It turned out to be great! Was a bit worried because it was hard to find english reviews for Mextrotter, which is why I'm writing this, but everything went incredibly smoothly. Booking was a breeze, we decided to just pay the 4% extra and pay after the tour started via paypal (didn't need to in the end but it was for our peace of mind), had a great tour with a great guide and didnt have to worry about organising any local tours or transport, everything was good to go! I couldnt find any other companies who did what we wanted, so Mextrotter was great. We saw where we wanted, and didnt have to worry about anything else!

We (me and my girl) are just back from a great holiday in Mexico, booked with Mextrotter.

They had a great offer on their website for a 9 day tour including a rented car (Jeep Wrangler)+ 4 nights in a luxurous resort in Playa del Carmen (sondos Carasol).

We paid 50% in advance and 50% after our holiday. The payment went very well, after 3 days we received already a confirmation by email that they'd received the transfer.

The tour itself was great, well organized; nice variety of hotels and every day a great program. From nice beaches to great ancient piramids to beautiful tours.

if you have plans to make tour by car, we strongly recommend to hire a jeep or a SUV because the road to some nice places can be bad.

The support of the staff of Mextrotter was very good. In our case 'Marlies' answered all our questions and gave some good advises. I recommend everybody with plans to go to Mexico to contact Mextrotter.

Dear,

For us Mextrotter was a complete nightmare to deal with. We did a 18 day tour in Mexico and when you face a set back - the organisation just doesn't give a sh*t. The car we rented with them got broken in on one of the parking lots they recommended. All our lugage got stolen in a split second.

This is obviously not their fault but they only made it worse instead of better.
For starters the GPS they offered was completely useless. When you face this set back they hardly pick up the phone to give you some assistance (eventhough they have a hotline?!).

So we were behind of schedule because we needed to deal with some practical stuff in Mexico City.

As goes with their louzy communication, they didn't do any effort to reshuffle the dates of the hotels. As a consequence we needed to pay extra rooms (during our race to catch up schedule).

On top of this, the battery of the car (Jeep Wrangler) died out. So we lost an other day in a garage.
When we were able to reach them they didn't provide assistance but instead argued about the insurance (an insurance for which we paid extra to be covered until the last dime).

This was our dissapointing experience with Mextrotter.

Too bad, Frederic. Two early posters on this thread had praise for this company, but they were once-only posters and no doubt shilling for Mextrotter. Your complaint is more credible as it gives some specifics and is not an over-the-top rant as we sometimes see here. Better luck on future travels.

We normally do not interfer with client`s posts on forums, but when we feel not 100% fairly treated we prefer to published our point of view.

FREDERIC travelled -together with 3 young friends form Belgium- with a rented Jeep Wrangler (Mextrotter rental car). The tour was in absolute peak season (ester time).

The car was delivered by us at the hotel in Mexico City. The clients wanted the roof (hard-top) to be taken off in order "to enjoy a Jeep feeling they had expected). We informed that accoring to Mextrotter policy and saftey reasons this was not possible.

Mextrotter staff once again informed about the fact that no vehicule should be left alone with luggage inside; only privat parking lots should be used.

A few hours after that, clients' luggage was stolen from the car when they made a stop.

For sure we are more than sorry for that start of the tour. But it seemes that the clients did exactly what they where not supposed to do and for some reason this -regretable fact- is the main source of anger with our services.

Unfortunately due to high season no hotel could be rebooked. We informed the clients about that fact.

We also offered assistance at the embassy -but our clients did not understand that a small fee for a translater whould be due for that ...

On our service-hotline we always tried to help and offer the most convenient solutions. Unfortunately the client´s "strategy to solve things" was to insult Mextrotter as responsible for the stolen luggage.

We once again would like to express that we are very sorry for the circumstances the client had to begin his Mexico Tour.

We would like to invite every possible client to consider our FIRST TRAVEL AND PAY AFTERWARDS option. I guess you will agree that only a company sure about his service quality is able to offer that unique adventure for its' clients.
