With Mayra on leave, who's the "go to" person now?

Is Curiocity still the correct agency for intra-Argentina travel. Was wanting to book to Iguasu in late November.

I'm running into the same problem, someone else had posted that Mayra could set you up with someone else,the standard reply e-mail doesn't give a link to anyone else. Could one of the "experts" please help out here? Feeling a little lost in this planning - first time in Argentina....

TioPepe, I used Cintia Stella at WOW!Argentina to handle all my travel arrangements. She charged me $100 to engage her services, this amount was deducted from the final bill. This practice did not bother me, but it is a deal breaker for some. She saved me substantial amounts on my air travel within Argentina (I did price the itinerary separately on the internet and with two competing agents). I have been very pleased with her services and her professionalism.

One of the regulars on the Lonely Planet board visited the Aerolineas office to get an update on prices. If the information he received is even remotely accurate, the rates for foreigners who do not arrive in Argentina on Aerolineas are absurd.
I hope he got bad information or that Aerolineas changes its mind....An example...Buenos Aires to Bariloche was over U$900.

Doc, you are scaring people!

I don't care what Jorge may say, but the fact is that today, just by using his keyboard, a US resident can book a November R/T flight BA/Bariloche on Aerolíneas for U$S 321,62.

That is a far cry from the "over U$S 900" you mention.

Almost sounds like the info he got were numbers he thought were in US$, but were actually in AR$, since the number you quoted here, and the list you posted over on Trip Advisor all seem to be roughly 3x the rates you can book online...

A follow up:

The Aerolineas web site is showing fares of U$543 this morning for a rt fare from Buenos Aires to Bariloche for Mid October. This fare applies to tickets purchased in the United States.
The fare for Argentinos quoted on the site is over $1700 pesos, roughly the same as for tickets purchased by non-residents.

A follow up post on the thread started by Jorge on the other board by someone living in the United States who phoned the Aerolineas 800-number found a fare of U$766 for the same trip in mid October .

"I just called the U.S. toll-free number for Aerolineas Argentinas and asked about fares for travel in October. They confirmed that a higher fare will apply to internal flights for anyone coming to Argentina on an airline other than Aerolineas Argentinas, no matter from which country, and a lower fare will apply if the flight into Argentina is on Aerolineas.

Here, "straight from the horse's mouth," as three sample round-trip fares:

Buenos Aires to Iguazú: US$515.50 or US$219.00

Buenos Aires to Mendoza: US$547.40 or US$230.40

Buenos Aires to Bariloche: US$766.40 or US$321.60"

AV, I just tried a later flight on the same day and got the same quote you received...both fares show as economy class, not the Condor class. Guess it doesn't pay to get up early and fly....

Well, I left a message on Mayra Brill's cell phone, asking her to provide a phone number that is not answered by a recorder, or an e-mail that does not give an automatic out of office reply.

We'll just have to wait and see.

Everybody was shocked by the new Aerolineas Argentina prices and the way they changed the rates on Wednesday night.

Drdawggy was well informed, what he says is right.
The previous rate of Buenos Aires- Mendoza-Buenos Aires which was $arg 600 will be now $ arg 1680 for the ones who dont use Aerolineas in their income flight. Such difference is totally absurd and ridiculous

For the ones who use A.A on their incoming flight the increase is ok.
But the great majority of the people who come to Arg. dont use AR.

i know they are offering cheaper costs, it will not last long, so hurry up. and book now.

Fortunately, there will be another company covering the south now, very soon. I hope they show more common sense than AA has shown.

Mayra is on leave because she just had healthy twin girls named Victoria and Catalina. I am currently in Buenos Aires and Iguazu and worked with Mayra extensively on this trip. While her babies are in the hospital because they are ok but premature she has continued to email me when I had questions this week and has been tremendously helpful. She is the best!!!!! I do not know how long she will be on leave for but you probably can still email me and ask her to set you up with someone else. She did not charge me $100 for her services and was very kind and patient.

I am Iguazu for today and tomorrow and it is really dry on the Brazilian side. It is also raining and cold so I am probably just not getting a good impression. You do not need to be here for more than 2 days to see both sides. If you only have a few days in BA then stay there-that was my big mistake!!! I should have just stayed rather than taking 2 days out to see the falls that are dry.

I am at the new Home HOtel in BA and it is fabulous! Just beautiful and there are only 17 rooms so they take great care of you. I love it and miss it and cannot wait to go back tomorrow!!!!!

Will do more of a trip report when I get home after going skiing in Portillo next week. Also went to Rio and Ilha Grande last week.

Abby 43 or anyone else who has recently been to Iguazu, should I spend the money going to see a 'dried up' waterfall or just plan on spending more time in BA and taking day trips out of BA. I will be in BA starting September 12th through the 24th.
