Making the most of first trip to Argentina

I will be visiting Argentina for the first time in June and have planned a 12 day itinerary after reading a lot of posts here. If anyone has thoughts about it, I'd love to hear them:

4 days Buenos Aires (BoBo hotel) with day trip to Colonia del Sacramento
2 days/1 night Iguazu falls (is this enough time?)
1 night Buenos Aires (en route to Bariloche)
4 days Bariloche (Llao Llao resort)
1 night Buenos Aires (before flying back to US)

I had considered visiting Mendoza for the wineries, but didn't want to overdo it, especially since I will be flying for both the Iguazu and Bariloche segments. I guess Mendoza could replace Iguazu, but I've heard great things about the fall - though I'm a real fan of wine ... ...

Any thoughts would be helpful!

Unless you plan to ski, I would replace the four days in Bariloche with 3 or four days in Salta and our NW. They have great wineries there too.

I agree, unless you ski or enjoy winter sports, then I would go to Mendoza instead of Bariloche. We did love the Llao Llao, it's a fabulous resort.

I would also spend one more night in Iguazu then fly directly to Bariloche or Mendoza through BA. There's no need to go back into BA for a night.

We always spend our last night in BA too, even though our flight always leaves late at night, gives me time to do all the last minute shopping!

I agree with AVRooster, SAlta and hte NW has a more varied scenery and you have very good wines, I would say, the best but I do not want you think I am a fanatic... just "in love" with NW!
Lovely weather, sun shines every single day... and the torrontes is unique!

I agree with the suggestion to spend an extra night at Iguazu. If you have 3 days and 2 nights there, you will not regret it.

Personally, i think 2 nights in Sheraton Iguazu is not necessary when you are short of time and the idea of visiting another area appeals to you.

If you get the 1st flight in the morning and the afternoon flight on the following day, you will have seen the park complete. And will be able to make a conexion to Salta on the same day of arrival. I do agree with many other people on this forum that Salta is worth a visit.

Bariloche landscape is wonderful and much more if you can afford the Llao Llao, however it is a landscape similar to many lake districts in the world.

Salta is UNIQUE.

I would agree 4 days in Salta area and NW region is better than 3. The wine there is excellent as well as having fantastic natural beauty! Iguazu Falls and park area can be viewed and enjoyed with only 1 night if you arrive on the early a.m. flight from BA and return on the late flight on the next day.

What ever your itinerary, you will have a great experience!

Thanks for all of the tips! We are not really winter sports people so it sounds like the NW may be a better place for us to go afterall.

TravelerDC:

Just in case you are interested, you should know that Flinstones is the screen name of a lady called Angie, who is a top independent Salta guide.

She doesn't say so, because she is VERY respectful of this forum's rules and maybe, just maybe, a little shy. LOL!!

Would you recommend Salta between Christmas and NY from a weather/sigthseeing standpoint or not?
