I have both Los Suenos is nice older but beach truly sucks
closer to manuelantoniopark.com pretty nice golf greener
rainier good harbor with deep sea fishing Jacofun.com
nearby sort of dodgy...
JW is the better property but more deserty less rain remote
rent a car if you go there better beach food drinks very
high price.
Join preferred guest program for free food drinks upgrades
Good deals for me bidding priceline.com or otel.com
booking.com for honest reviews...
I like the JW better overall personally
as long as I have a car to roam around...
Happy deciding!

Los Suenos is nice. Great pool, The beach is a grass beach with hammocks tied to the Palm trees next to a rocky unmaintained beach - beach not good. Views are great though.
This is in walking distance via a covered path to the Marina which has many tood restaurants / coffe shops/ icecream/ boutiques. Can rent boats - hire guides for deep sea fishing.
They offer many sight seeing tours - to Nearby beaches where you can surf, etc.. Close to Manuel Antonio Park.
Rooms were nice/updated/ and well decorated. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. We booked many tours through the concierge service.

We stayed at Los Suenos for a week a year ago.We really liked it, but we are not serious beach people. We liked the pool, local fishing, golf and good restaurants in nearby Jaco.We also like the Manuel Antonio tour. Lots of wildlife along with the restaurant at Si Como No.In Feb we are going back to stay a week at the JWM, and 10 days at Los Suenos. We are concerned that the JWM is too remote to find off property things of interest. As qwo vadis said, I hear about how expensive things are at the JWM.I would also like some info on the golf course near the JWM. Perhaps someone else can help on this. I have not gotten much response about the area attractions around the JWM, but I am awaiting the 2012 Fodors Guidebook to be released next month.Let me know if you want info on the areas we have experienced. However people like qwo vadis are the real experts.

After reading my post, I wanted to emphasize that my favorite activity in the Los Suenos area is the world class fishing. We didn't catch Marlin, but we caught a lot of sailfish and dorado. We took some filets to a local eatery where they did a great job. Most will prepare your catch. My wife loves being by a beach or pool and golf.I'm not sure you can do better than Los Suenos if you like those things. We also spent a week in La Fortuna. It rained every day, so I can't comment on this area.
