My wife and I are staying at Grand Baja Resort in San Jose del Cabo in April, for 1 week. I have read numerous posts on various sites, so i have seen the mixed reviews, and possibly "poor service", depending on what you are looking for. But we are willing to give it a try. If anyone has knowlege/ experiences of this hotel; good or bad I would love to hear them.
Also some other questions, regarding Los Cabos.
What are some of the "must see" things to do in:
-San Jose del Cabo?
-Cabo San Lucas?
We are active, and I beleive we will want to explore the 'bird estuary/ nature preserve'.Also
lunch/dinner/shop san Jose del cabo. Suggestions or comments??
We will also drive to Cabo San Lucas for a day or evening. So any input for a day trip to Cabo san Lucas, or a good evening dinner/dessert/ dancing/ partying??
We plan on renting a car, so we can drive to cabo, and possibly drive some days into san jose del cabo, instead of the 15-20 minute walk.

Here is a BIG Question re PARKING: What is the parking availabilty (any cost?) in the town of San Jose del cabo??

Also what is the parking availability/cost/convenience if we wanted to drive ourselves/day trip to Cabo San Lucas? Is there an area in town? Could we park near "ARCO" where the sea of cortex meets the pacific Ocean? Also could we park in 'town', eat lunch or shop,and then walk to Arco? What I am asking I guess:
Is that all within one proximity?

Dear Michael:

We have been to Cabo twice. As far as "must sees", it all depends on your tastes. We usually just go to relax around the pool/beach,eat,and drink mixed in with a little sightseeing and shopping. The area is best for water sports and fishing. There are also ATV and horseback tours.

SJdC is a colonial town and will not take long to see. Lots of little restaurants and shops. We ate at our hotel restaurant call Posada Terranova which was very good. There is also supposed to be a good taco place called the Hangman.

CSL is more of a party town and ratty looking. But it does have nice restuarants and tons of shopping. I like The Office on the main beach for hanging out and Mi Casa for dinner.

I can't help you out on parking since we used taxis or public busses. With a car you will be able to explore further such as the artsy town of Todos Santos or even go further to La Paz. We will be in Cabo in Feb. and I hope to at least make it to Todos Santos this year.

Hello. I have just returned from a week's stay at the Grand Baja. The resort is lovely and the service was just fine. I do recommend that you rent a car. We went on a whale watching tour with "Baja Expeditions"...very exciting.

Topping for selfish reasons - I am headed to the tourist corridor between CSL and SJDC for a stay at the Hilton in April. Am deciding whether or not to rent a car as well as looking for recommendations for restaurants as mfishcer is!!

we rented a car, and were happy we did, because the corridor is so long and drawn out, and taxis aren't cheap. A car will save you money in the long run. The traffic in Cabo is a bit harum scarum, though, so be alert!
The Hilton, looks nice, we walked there during our stay next door at the Marquis. We enjoyed dinner at the Italian restaurant in San Jose Del Cabo, can't recall the name. I think Fodors lists it in their restaurant section.

We got back from CSL about 2 weeks ago. I hope to do a trip report very soon. We had a great time, mostly relaxing by the pool, eating and drinking. We stayed at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach. A beautiful resort on the Pacific side of Los Cabos.

We have a timeshare at the Villa del Palmar in CSL, but have been there only once. Our kids still talk about how much fun the trip was. Great Italian restaurant there called Dolce Vita, I think. It was our favorite but they were all good. We hung out on Playa Medrano for a couple of days - lots of water sports and music. I'll bet you can park at the grocery store - it's within walking distance of all of the restaurants. Don't miss Cabo Wabo; great food, great fun, great people watching.

Cabo, well what more can be said, I call it Tijuana with a beach, tacky tourist, hookers , strippers , drugs, pimps and pushers all await you in Cabo.

Best to check into an all inclusive and stay there.

Do a google on timeshare fraud mexico. Read it well.
