We stayed at the Melia two years ago..in March. Older hotel, but very comfortable, large pool, and lots of info for just about any activity you prefer. Easy walking distance to downtown, but I did not care for the beach area near the hotel. Very busy, with locals selling things, and the "water toys" rental. Guess it depends on your age and what you like. We always go whale-watching with Baja Expeditions. They use the large, motorized rafts. We only ate breakfast at the hotel, because we really like gourmet food. Our very favorite restaurant in Cabo is just down the driveway and to the left....The Blue Turtle. If you like snorkeling, the two best beaches are on the corridor and you can take a bus out to them. No need to spend a lot of $$ for one of those tours, because they bring you by sea to the same two little bays. Be prepared for the people trying to sell timeshares also. It gets worst each year, but then again, if I earned the kind of wages that the people in Mexico do...I'd be might be doing the same thing. Hope you have a great time. We'll be there between Feb. 3-18.

Do a google search and type in Timeshare
Scams Cabo. Then Read Cabo Tips, ABCNEW
and on that page more on timeshare scams open up and Read Claims and Realties, USA Today, and Most important LatinTrade the article "Timeshare HELL".

If you are tempted to purchase check out www.timeshare-guru.com and open up the Resales. I found two in floating high Season in the Melia Cabo Real one for $2800 and Fee $347 and $6000 for one bedroom but Fee $947.00 Ouch.

There are actualy three Melia hotels in the Cabo San Lucas area. The one Mary is describing, in easy walking distance to town, is the Melia San Lucas. The other two, the Melia Cabo Real and the Melia Los Cabos, are located on the corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose. I think the Melia Los Cabos is the one with suites, but I'm not really familiar with those two properties. You would have to take a cab or shuttle to town, though.
