Las Caletas Options-Puerto Vallarta
We rented a condo in the Romantic Zone for Thanksgiving. On our last trip to PV we took a water taxi to Yelapa rather than any organized tour. It appears that you have to take a tour boat to get to Las Caletas. We plan to pick a day when there is no cruise ship in port. Any idea how crowded these boats and the beach will be? Does anyone have any recommendations for one tour company over another? Thank you.

I've never done it, but spend a lot of time in PV (and on PV travel forums) and Vallarta Adventures gets consistently good comments. And I see they offer this trip. -suze

You're most welcome.
I've been going to PV since a friend first took me in the early 90's. I think I've been about 22 times or so by now. Most recently last November.
Since you'll be in a Romantic Zone condo, all my suggestions will be convenient since that's where I always stay as well.

22 times, Wow. I first went to PV in 1978 with 3 girlfriends. We stayed in a hotel right by the Seahorse. Can't remember the name right now but it had a great little bar/meeting area on the ground floor where we were told Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor hung out in the day. I know there is a building there still (or perhaps a new one)with a restaurant. I've been 5 more times since and still love it. I took my husband for his first time two years ago and we stayed at Casa Isabel - which was on your list of restaurants. This time we are staying nearby in a little condo. The Romantic Zone is my favorite area.

Maybe Hotel Rosita? I believe it's the oldest in PV.
I have always stayed somewhere on the south-side. My two most recent trips have rented an apartment/condo which has been fantastic (and no more expensive than my usual budget hotel).

Hola cas4075, We, Vallarta Adventures, are the only tour group that takes guests to Las Caletas - it is our own personal slice of heaven! We would love for you to come see it. Feel free to give us call so we can find the best day for you - all the contact information is on the site - www.vallarta-adventures.com. Not sure when you are coming, but there are not as many cruise ships at this time. The crowds vary, but there are so many things to do and a lot of space, so it should never feel too crowded. We hope to see you.
@suze 22 times and you have never been to Las Caletas! We need to get you there
Thanks

PV in 1978 ? that would have been the Oceana Hotel, great little bar on the corner, I used to go there. It's now condos and several restaurant/bars, the ground floor is all stores, miss the Oceana Bar, there's one with the same name on the 2nd floor, but it's not the same.
I first came here around '78 also, and after several trips, finally moved here for 18 years now.
Las Caletas is the sole domain of Vallarta Adventures

Thanks for the extra information and help. I didn't realize it was only VA who could get you to Las Caletas.
I've never taken any tours or done a formal activity in PV in all these years, but like to be informed about them to be able to help other people find what they want!

Thanks, Cabron. It was the Oceana - now I remember. Funny story. I went with three other girlfriends and we had two rooms. One night we came back to the hotel and my friend went to the wrong door and our key worked. So then we went to the other girls' room and our key worked there too. Seems one key fit all the rooms.
